Sleeping On the Job

We have just completed our first week of summer camp!

Our counselors have been working hard everyday to ensure you have the best summer, they work around the clock, all the time, so much so that they fall asleep everywhere!!!

We are resting up this weekend and next week is a new week.

We have our first big field trip planned this Wednesday!

Gummie Bears will be going to Happy Hollow Park in San Jose

Skittle and Airheads will be going to BOOMERS in Livermore

And Starburst will be going to UC Davis to get a campus tour and see what college has to offer!

SDC LUNCH PROGRAM

For those of you who have signed up for choice lunch, We are sorry to announce that they company decided it can not work with us. For the convenience of the families that are interested, we have established our own on-site lunch program. We will be cooking and catering meals. the following is our Menu!

 If you would like lunch for the first day please EMAIL LCHSSDC@gmail.com before
 Thursday June 6th, 2013 and with your child's name and grade, so we can adequately prepare accordingly. If you need lunch any of the other days, then please turn the form in with CASH on Monday, June 10th, The first day of camp.

*as with all things, please be prepared for changes to occur. We will try to notify you as soon as information is available. The best place to keep updated is here on this BLOG!

If you would like to order lunch, please feel out the form and turn it in on THURSDAY  the WEEK BEFORE.

Bryan Zhang - 4th Grade

Hi Everyone! My name is Bryan and I am going to be in 5th grade. I will be in AIRHEADS! I've been in day camp for the past 5 years. My favorite memory from day camp is KDG day because you get to go to cool places. My KDG leader last year, Jason Wu made a difference in my life because he taught me about God and does activities with me.  The best thing about day camp is you get to go to fun places and have fun. I am looking forward to laser tag because if you win the games you get candy and we get to have a lot of fun.

Ally Tran - 4th Grade

Hi, My name is Ally. I will be in 5th grade and I will be an Airhead this summer. I have been in day camp for the past 5 years. My favorite memory from day camp is seeing friends and playing with them. A person who has made a difference in my life is Mr. Allan because he taught me about God. The best thing about day camp is the fun activities, and that I can spend more time with people. I look forward to GOING to camp this year!

Cassidy Wu - 2nd Grade

Hello, I am Cassidy! I will be in 3rd grade and in the Skittles group this year. This will be my 2nd year in day camp. My favorite memory from day camp is Sky High. Coco changed me because she taught me to be creative. The best thing about day camp is having fun and playing games. I look forward to having field trips and KDG group field trips.

Alyssa Lee - 1st Grade

Hello, my name is Alyssa. I will be in 2nd grade and I will be in Gummie bears! I have been in day camp for 1 year and my favorite activity was Sky High. A counselor that made a difference in my life is Crystal Lay because she play[s] with me and helps me when I'm heart [hurt]. I like the activiteas [activities]. I look forward to going to a park.

Annie Huo - 5th Grade

Hi! My name is Annie. I will be in 6th grade this coming year. I will be in AIRHEADS again! This is my 4th year in day camp. My favorite activity so far is going to Six Flags. Every single one[counselor] has made a difference in my life. They all helped me! The best thing about day camp is C Days =). I look forward to CAMPING this year!

Carmen "Mouth full of Grapes" Ho - The Astronaut Princess - 7th Grade

HELLO! My name is Carmen - The Astronaut Princess! I like to eat grapes! This will be my last year at day camp. I will be in 8th grade and in Starburst. I have been in day camp for about 5 years. My favorite memory from day camp so far is going to sky high for the first time and camping. Counselors who have made a difference in my life are Tiffo and Kary because they taught me to be myself. The best thing about day camp is that you get to make awsome[awesome] memories. I look forward to meet[ing] new people and CAMPING this year!!!!

I know this video if from 2009, but I think it basically covers what this year is going to be about and more! We are working hard and our activities are ALMOST all planned out! The counselors this year are ALL VERY excited to meet you and they are working in overdrive these next few days to make sure you have a BIG summer, not only do we BelieveInGod, but we also know GOD is BIG!

 And this summer is our biggest summer yet! If you haven't signed up then you are missing out on something GREAT. I believe God will be doing BIG things this year! We have over 200 Students, about 90 staff members, and countless adults church members participating in camp this year.

Welcome to the SDC Blog!

Welcome to B.I.G. Summer Day Camp 2013!!! 

My name is Vicki and I will be the Camp Director this year! That is what kids think I look like and THEY ARE RIGHT! You'll most likely find me in some shorts with a ponytail and glasses! I will be in charge of the day to day operations of camp and I oversee the planning of camp and the training and well-being of the counselors!

Our camp is in full swing and counselors and helpers are working hard to plan an AWESOME camp where we can CONNECT with each as many people as we can. This will be the blog site where we will post general updates on camp. Major Events and General weekly Overviews, as well as my thoughts and feelings on the events of the day or week!

This year our theme is CONNECT. One of our goal this year is to try provide a space for kids to CONNECT in every aspect of their lives. Whether it's with the math and science they are learning, the counselors they interact with, the other kids in their group, or Jesus, the one who graciously redeems us, our hope is that the kids will be able to build and develop a relationship and find a connection here at B.I.G. SDC.

We are working hard to cultivate that space for your kids and I am very stressed out, but EXCITED for the camp to start. I look forward to Day Camp with child-like anticipation, both nervously caution, yet with joyful excitement for all that God will be doing in the lives of the counselors, the kids, and even Myself.
